The Saraswati Sugar Mills is one of the pioneers in the sugar industry in India. It produces sugar of international standards and employs the latest technologies through out its operation right from cane cultivation to the manufacture of sugar. Established in 1933, it is located at Yamunanagar in Haryana, India. It has a cane crushing capacity of 1,20,000 quintal of cane crushing per day.

Sugar Cane Development

• The total geographical area 'Command Area' of the Saraswati Sugar Mills is 3,92,000 acres while the cultivable area is 2,92,000 acres.
• Approximately 50,000 farmers from across 646 villages supply sugar cane to the sugar mill.
• The mill employs a team of approximately 250 Field Officers who guide and support the farmers with information and supply of new varieties of the sugar cane, latest farming technique, information on fertilizers, pesticides and good farming practice.
• In order to continuously monitor the sugar cane growth in terms of quality the mill employs satellite imaging technology under the unique programme called 'Cane Management through Remote Sensing Technology' (CAMREST).

Manufacturing Process

• The Saraswati Sugar Mills has recently upgraded to the Sulphitation Process from the earlier Carbonation process of sugar manufacturing. Further the Sulphitation process has been modified by putting up a refinery, and sugar being produced by the mill is now among the best available in the market and is very well accepted.
• During the current crushing season the mill has crushed 180 lac quintals of cane, the largest quantum of cane crushed by any sugar mill in India.
• The mill produces sugar in a varieties of grades such as L-31, L-30, M-31, M-30, S-31 and S-30 to meet the requirements of various categories of customers.

Environmental Protection

• In keeping with the world-wide concern for environmental protection, the Saraswati Sugar Mills has gone in for an ISO accreditation and has recently being awarded the ISO 14001 certification by Lloyd's Register.

• Saraswati Sugar Mills has the advantage of having the backing of the other divisions of the Saraswati Industrial Syndicate that are in the business of designing and manufacture of Sugar Plants & Machinery and other heavy engineering equipment. This ensures that the technical expertise for the machinery required for manufacture of sugar is available in-house.
